Artificial Intelligence (AI) is certainly the talk of the tech world. Google is firmly in the race, investing heavily in this space.

Prepare to be amazed by the latest additions to Google's flagship Gemini family of AI models at the I/O this year. Inside information recently suggests that an upgraded version, Gemini Ultra, could be unveiled soon. Gemini Ultra represents the pinnacle of Google’s Gemini offerings.

However, this could mean a steeper price for the Gemini subscription.

In order to unlock further functionality in the Gemini chatbot based on Gemini models, Google now offers an annual plan titled Gemini Advanced ($20 per month). But, whispers are, Google might be launching two exciting plans, Premium Plus and Premium Pro. However, the perks these new plans are going to offer and the comparative pricing structure are still under wraps.

You can look forward to some insider tech talk from Google about Astra, a spirited initiative of Google to develop AI applications and agents with an intuitive, real-time understanding. We should also hear more about Project Mariner, Google's AI agents capable of web navigation and actions on behalf of users. Some tech enthusiasts have noticed "Computer Use" references in Google's AI Studio developer platform code, which could relate to Mariner.

For the first time, Google is dedicating a standalone event for Android updates - - The Android Show - a week before the I/O.

The star of the show will be the latest Android version, Android 16. It's expected to introduce enhanced notifications, and a completely fresh design language, Material 3 Expressive. A leaked Google blog post describes Material 3 Expressive as a thorough overhaul featuring responsive and attention-grabbing "action elements".

Android 16, as per reports, is primarily a quality-of-life update bringing along support for Auracast, thereby easing the switch between Bluetooth devices. Other additions include lock screen widgets and a variety of novel accessibility features.

We may also get to see cool capabilities of recent versions of Android XR, the mixed reality operating system, and Wear OS, Google's software for wearable devices.

But there's more!

As per the official I/O schedule, Google has an exciting line up of sessions focusing on Chrome, Google Cloud, Google Play, Android development tools, and Gemma - Google's suite of open AI models.

Last year, Google surprised us with AI-themed innovations such as LearnLM, an education-focused set of advanced AI models. We might see a version update of Google’s popular podcast-generating NotebookLM this time around. Leaked code hints at a "Video Overviews" tool that could possibly create video summaries using Google’s Veo 2 video-generating model.
