It may be 2027 before Apple releases a fully "modernized" Siri

Apple is in the process of revamping Siri to catch up with the developments in AI technologies, as per a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Unfortunately, the real face-lift, transforming Siri into an interactive conversational assistant, might only see the light of day when iOS 20 unveils in 2027.

However, this doesn't rule out significant enhancements to Siri in the meantime. In fact, a new Siri version, boasting a myriad of Apple Intelligence features announced almost a year prior, is set to make its debut in May, as per the sources revealed.

Gurman likens this upcoming version of Siri to possessing "two brains". The first brain is engineered to handle familiar tasks like making phone calls or setting timers. The second focuses on fielding intricate inquiries, empowered by user data. A hybrid system, internally known as "LLM Siri" that blends these two, is scheduled for the spotlight at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with an official launch planned for spring 2026.

This amalgamation of "the two brains," Gurman suggests, serves as the springboard for Apple to push the envelope further in amplifying Siri’s capabilities. The fruits of these efforts are then expected to be unveiled the subsequent year.
