Perplexity offers a subscription pack for $200 per month
Hello everyone! Exciting news straight from the heart of Perplexity who just announced, through their recent blog post, that they're unrolling a $200 monthly subscription option specifically crafted for their ardent users.
This new plan, affectionately called Perplexity Max, is a bonanza. It entitles you to unrestricted savouring of the Labs feature - the startup's ingenious spreadsheet and report generation tool. Plus, you'll be at the head of the queue when it comes to trying out Perplexity's cool new features. You'll be the first to test-drive their upcoming AI-powered browser, Comet, and be given priority access to all Perplexity services that use cutting-edge models such as OpenAI o3-pro and Claude Opus 4.
Perplexity's avant-garde move to introduce the Max subscription puts them in the league of the big shots like OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Cursor, who've captured the AI provider market by unveiling their own hyper-premium subscription packages for power users.
In addition to their new Max plan, Perplexity has an array of other subscription plans to choose from. If $200 seems pricey, why not consider their affordable $20 Pro plan? Or if you're a part of a business group, they have a $40 per person, per month Enterprise Pro plan. But just when you thought that was it, they're also planning to unveil a super-premium Max plan specially for Enterprise customers.
Perplexity has been seeing robust numbers with their $20 Pro plan fetching them about $34 million in 2024. Yet, despite being in a strong financial terrain, they've been burning through cash with spends on cloud servers and acquiring access to AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic, as reported by The Information.
Last year’s records show that the startup had an Annual Recurring Revenue of $80m in January. With such a valuation, it's crucial for Perplexity to ramp up its revenue game. In May, rumours were buzzing about Perplexity's negotiation to raise a whopping $500 million at a $14 billion valuation.
There's no denying that the AI search market is a battleground that's heating up with heavyweight contenders like Google and its AI Mode, which bears an uncanny resemblance to Perplexity's app. OpenAI too has been infusing its search functions more fungibly to ChatGPT and there's buzz about them considering the launch of an AI browser.
Perplexity's key to success might lie in its knack of collaborating with AI providers for AI models and managing to outsmart them in the AI search arena. The additional revenue from the Perplexity Max subscriptions could surely enhance the startup's competitive standing. Buckle up, exciting times ahead!
