Recent reports, Intel might be selling its networking and edge unit

Intel's CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is still evaluating strategies to allow the tech behemoth to concentrate more on its primary focus.

According to a report from Reuters, Intel might consider letting go of its networking and edge division, an arm of the company that's not viewed as crucial. This segment happens to be the creator of telecom equipment chips and remarkably brought in $5.8 billion in revenue back in 2024.

Intel has begun exchanging information with interested parties about a possible deal, however, no formal intention for selling has been announced just yet, says Reuters.

The prospect of a sale wouldn't be too shocking, if it happens. Tan has been vocal about his desire to help the company streamline its focus on what it does best — manufacturing chips for personal computers and data centres. At Intel's Vision conference in March, Tan assured the company's clients that Intel is looking to especially focus on its specialty by letting go of non-core parts of the business.

Intel, on their part, chose to stay quiet when asked for a comment.
