Veo 2, Google's most AI video model, can cost you 50 cents per second

Google has made a whisper-quiet reveal, shedding some light on the cost structure of Veo 2; their next-generation, movie-magic AI model. They gave us a glimpse of its capabilities back in December.

Their official price list discloses that harnessing Veo 2 to generate video content would dent your wallet by 50 cents per second of video. Quick math tells us that's $30 a minute or a whopping $1,800 an hour.

Google DeepMind's own brainiac, Jon Barron, made an interesting comparison to the Hollywood hotshot flick "Avengers: Endgame". That movie had an astronomical production budget of $356 million, which roughly translates to around $32,000 a second.

Now, it's not that every client is going to script a Veo-produced, feature-length movie equivalent of the Avengers saga, nor is it likely that Veo 2 will start rolling out three-hour marathons anytime soon. In fact, Google proudly flagged Veo 2's finesse in creating video clips that clock in at just over the two-minute mark.

For some perspective, let's look at OpenAI's Sora. This video generator recently became accessible to subscribers, who shell out $200 monthly for a ChatGPT Pro subscription.
